Wow, you guys are being way too hard on the Gollum figure.
I think it's a great figure and all that TLC could have done with it.

I like it, i just wish they could have done more with it, Gollum is such an interesting little character and they could have done a little more.

Empy, I mean this in the most polite way, but you seem to pass on every theme. Just because you're not into lego much doesn't mean you need to say that you don't like every theme.

Now from the point of view of people who enjoy legos I'm really looking forward to this theme.

Actually I still have an interest, it's just what LEGO has been making is lacking any interest. Look at this theme, then look at Pirates of the Caribbean, then PoP, then Harry Potter, then Indiana Jones... look familiar?

Yes - they're all licensed themes with flesh minifigures of which I have the feeling you might despise.
What else makes it seem familiar to you?
The increasing amounts of detail, which are, by the way, amazingly done?

Another point to mention is that the LOTR sets are actually good if not great,
whereas PoP, POTC, etc. were mostly just about the figures, seem-fully.

What did you expect - spaceships flying around to make the themes "differ a bit more"?

They all are usually rustic buildings with bland colors such as black, grey, tan, etc. They all seem to lack independence in design from one another. Maybe make a licensed theme that isn't as adventuresome... like Toy Story, which had a lot of design independence.

One thing that I really hope this theme doesn't get-

A video game.

The lego video games are always boring and take half the fun out of the sets.

Side note- as Octan's link isn't working, here's another posting some images of LOTR, SW and Monster Hunters.

You must be kidding. I reckon you're not The Joker.
Gandalf is even smaller than Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir and so on... (even if just a bit)

No single regular figure needs those Toy Story legs.
Leave that to Woody and co, but it shouldn't be used on anything else unless it actually makes sense.
To me, those legs look terrible on a figure it's not really intended for. It's just awkward, you know.
Dunno where you're basing this off anyways.

@JackDawson: Yes, we are getting a videogame. The Hobbit gets one, and LOTR probably will, as well.
If the LEGO videogames are boring to you, then go play another game but do not deem it as
a general "fact".

And I've got my eye on how this is not a chatbox...

To add to it - I'm just getting all of them.
The only things we can expect from the summer wave is HD images of the boxes, but other than that we could just set ourselves to 'The Hobbit' already.

I'm not sure what TLC has got in mind,
but I wonder whether they'll toss in some LOTR sets as well or just decide
to keep it at 'The Hobbit' for the winter wave.
At the very least, LOTR should return next year, presumably with
Gondorians and such... One or two battlepacks IS a possibility for the winter if they do wish to keep a few spots for LOTR as well.

It can be called both, The Lego Company, the company working manly on LEGO products, and TLG, The Lego Group, that is running of all the brands with the LEGO name on them.
